@ MiamiIndianTribe the term INJUN is very racist and sure natives may have a wonderful culture also beautiful crafts and are nice but when you look at what has been done to my people there is a lot of hurt and trauma that my people carry and as a naitve person i can assure you that we are no differant then anyone else and being a native isnt all that great if you knew the history behind the Indiginouse people you would think twice about using the term INJUN or SAVAGE, or SKWA!!!!!!!!
HEY Stormember1 just because their skin is white doesn’t mean their not Natives. My skin isn’t as dark as full blood Native but that doesn’t mean I’m not part Native. You should know that.
here in the East there is a longer time of mixing races than in the West, so of course there would be mixed bloods. Example: there is a LARGE Black and Seminole mix. Not excusing the “Generekees” but there are some serious mixed bloods.
I think it’s an Honor to be able to see the heritage you have and to learn from it. I must say I am and always have been mesmerized by the true culture and beliefs, the simple way healing methods were, the fact no animal was killed just to be killed, The way Nature is held in high regard, I myself look at an Eagle and become breathless, I see a wolf and in my head I find myself saying I pray for you and go in peace, may God protect you and I swear I hear a faint thankyou
Hi ogomar, I find out about pow wows on the internet and sometimes I see them in the news papers. Just search for Indian pow wows on the computer and they have dates and where they will be. I went to three here in PA for first time and I loved them. Take care. Arttrezza
I’m Oglala (Sioux) from Pine RIdge. Check out our pow wow in PIne RIdge sometime. The 25th Annual Oglala Lakota Nation Pow Wow the first weekend of August, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th. I’ve been co-coordinating it for three years now and am really excited about this year. We’re trying to invite southern dancers and drum groups and even Aztec dancers. It’s not the largest pow wow, but gosh it gets pretty crowded. Lots of camping, food, friends. Sorry if this sounds like an Ad, but it’s fun.
I think that it is an HONOR for you to have a strong interest in our native american culture! Follow your heart and forget about what other people think. God bless you!
