Part 2 of 7 – How to Make a Native American Style Northern Spirit Flute – Gluing the Roost
Rich Dubé demonstrates how to make a Native American style flute, a Northern Spirit Flute, out of prepared food grade ABS plastic parts with detailed close ups in this 7 part series. I have been so inspired by the peaceful, healing sound of the instrument and how it engages my most challenging students, I designed this latest version of the flute to take out the difficult work in making them with your students. The Northern Spirit Flute is a mid A flute that plays beautifully with other instruments tuned to A440.
Hi Katilyn, Yes indeed you are correct. The instrument this is based on the beautiful Native American Flute, for the me the most beautiful instrument I have ever played. Because I am not a First Nations person, I do not have the right to call my replica of a Native American plains flute by the name “Native American Flute.” Hence the name I’ve given to this version of the Native American Flute is the Northern Spirit Flute

How do you clean out the inside of the flute so you don’t get bamboo residue in your throat?
