Welcome to my first YouTube video! Today I’ll be unboxing a Fort Knox Pistol Box. I tend to do a lot of research into what I consider major purchases, and I feel any important security container is a major purchase regardless of budget. I have needed to buy a fast access handgun safe, and decided I needed the reliability of a mechanical lock with the speed of an electronic lock that works on the first try. The other problem I found with many biometric and keypad locks is they almost all use a pancake lock as a backup, which can be bypassed by a 5 year old and some simple tools. Simplex locks combine the absolute reliability of a mechanical lock while being even faster than some electronic locks, with up to 1081 combinations. The body is 10 gauge steel and the wraparound lid is 3/16″, which is a lot more steel than most biometric/electronic competitors have in the sub-0 price range. You can see the gas strut open the lid in the video. It’s American-made and exceeds CA’s Firearms Safety Device Requirements. Fort Knox offers a line of these, including one large enough for a shotgun and an intermediate size shelf safe, as well as a number designed to fit inside their full size safes. The stuff in the video besides the safe: Case Canoe 2 blade knife with bone handle, Native American paddling a canoe engraving on the main blade Smith & Wesson M&P40 with Apex DCAEK and TruGlo sights (one with a Streamlight TLR-1) Springfield GI 1911 Smith & Wesson 1911 # UBZ7762 I apologize …
It’s definitely sufficient for keeping children out. It’s got a lot more steel and a stronger and more secure lock than most competing products. Throw in the benefit of being fast to access without the hassle of electronics, and I can’t recommend something else over it.
Thanks for the vid! Wanted to see the simplex lock in action and your video really helped. I’m going to be using it more as toddler proofing rather than theft deterrent so I appreciated the vid.
Great job on this video. It was nice to see how much room there actually is in the safe. Thanks.
Hey, I just got this in the mail today. A video on how to change the combination would be wonderful. The paper instructions are pretty confusing.

Thanks man!
Great vid, especially if it was your first one!
Glad I could help! I might do a quick video on changing the combination–it’s very easy to do.
