Every spring Pat Northrup, her husband Jim and extended family tap around two hundred maple trees on the Fond Du Lac Ojibwe reserve in northeastern Minnesota. They boil down to syrup in an old fashioned kettle. Then Pat takes the syrup down further to sugar cakes and sugar in her kitchen.
Great video!
My father takes sap from the birch trees and we drink it like it is ( maximum 2 weeks a year when there is plenty of it). I have never tasted the maple sap, but I’ve heard that it is quite sweet.
Lookin Good ! Great vid of sharing such an awsome tradition in your world. Appreciate Jim’s demo of hand tooling the tree taps too. Chi miigwetch from Ontario
