The original version of the song written by Sam Pottle & Tony Geiss, as performed by Buffy Sainte-Marie in 1977. Buffy’s new baby Cody has been getting a lot of attention from everyone on Sesame Street, and Big Bird gets jealous after no-one seems interested in looking at the new picture he has drawn. This segment was featured on the 10th anniversary special hosted by James Earl Jones, and can be seen on a TV screen in the Peter Sellers movie “Being There”. The song has also been remade twice in later episodes of Sesame Street with similar themes of getting used to a baby sibling.
Not necessarily. There is the Good Birds Club episode that just came out last year and it was a very creative and almost real way of helping children stand up to bullies. You should see it! It’s wonderful and I enjoyed it!
wasn’t this playing in the background in that marvelous Peter Sellars movie called ‘Being There’…….Buffy is so beautiful and this song is very touching…….classic sesame street where simplicity and child like wonder sync very well with Sellar’s child man Chance….RIP Peter
Different writers, different ways I guess… But yeah, the show just ain’t the same as it used to be. I blame the competition and the loss of people like Jon Stone and Jim Henson who helped make the show what it was.
that song in the scene of Being There matches just perfectly, it’s so amazing..
Wow big bird is still in this tv show
Well considering the viewers are 5 and under the lesson is kinda lost for bulling

It does sound a lot like the Punch Drunk Love theme.
As soon as she started to sing, the tears fell from my eyes.
“everyone loves through all their days different people, different ways.” What a simple and beautiful thing to teach children.

Bm, Bm/Bb, Bm/A, Bm/G# (bass walkdown holding Bm chord) then: G,D,G,D,E,G,A,Bm. Bridge is Bmaj, Em, A, D, G, Bmaj… back to Bm.
