It is kinda funny when you think about it, but this is how it has to be now days. A lot of native Americans even on their own land…I think it should be everywhere…have lost some traditional ways. Someones gotta pass on the history, im glad he did. I have a question though. Im not trying to be funny, but where is the privacy for sex in the family tent? Im serious.
I feel like crying when I see how the original people of North America are treated. It seems like such an insult, even more than slavery. But nobody wants pitied, however I can’t see it any other way. I wish the europeans had not done what we did.
Thank you !
I am Cherokee and Blackfoot and I can attest that native Americans had a pretty good thing going. There was fighting between tribes but the vast majority had an understanding and it was a very good way to live. The only bad thing was that sickness and minor accidents were often fatal because of the lack of medical care (compared to what we have today) but I am amazed at the level of care they could provide. I am striving to return to a simpler way of living thus why I am researching these vids.
I always wondered about the cradle boards without the “rainbow” or head board that curves over top of the baby’s face and head to protect them, now we know, it’s raw hide bonnets very cool.
I was a little surprised at first but I have to say you did a good job Peter Gibbs. If we want Native educators then stand up and become one. We have needs for educators and other types of helpers and if we don’t stand up and do it then we have to hire out side of our tribe. It is a good thing these young people are learning their culture, we all should. Personally I feel we should all return to traditional ways but at least we should learn about our culture. I think it leaves ppl unwhole if not
The greatest thing any of us can do today is take the time to learn and get involved with our local reservations. It doesn’t need to be much. Learn their history. Patron Native American owned businesses. Donate clothing, food, money and time to NA charities. If an atrocity happens on the rez, call your local paper and report it.
Support the environment and care for it!
As a white person, I grew up in the wrong culture. This is much more beautiful to me and the way life should have been lived!
Get over it. He’s an earth native. Quit tryin to be so special. We’re all the same.
Did you notice what looked like 2 mice running down over the white blanket behind the
man talking? good thing no one lives there.
I was thinking the exact same thing. How would a dude from Australia or London know crap about the history of America. As you said, He can tell you about it, but he could never really understand the people and the history.
How can they kept cool before air condictioner were invented? The Plains can be very hot during summer time. And spreak clearly! I can even understand him
Learned a lot in just a few minutes. Thank you for sharing this.
Yes, he teaches there. He also has elders and others who help out. Is there a problem with that? Seeing how the rest of society seems to think the Indian has either disappeared or are doing really good from the casinos. Take a trip to any reservation and then you’ll see for yourself.
Peter Gibbs is originally from England and still has the accent, he lives on the Rosebud Reservation (has for years) and teaches at Sinte Gleska University.
Is this a Brittish dude teaching Native American girls about thier own Culture?
What a great teacher!
