I understand what you mean, the thing is some of the people who accepted the name Indian did so just for lack of a better term and the need to unite the Native Peoples in order to fight oppression. AIM, the American Indian Movement is an example, they are all Natives, called out Ward Churchill for being only 25% native and being in the FBI on their website, and yes they got into an armed battle with the FBI before, AIM aimed.
I understand what you mean, the thing is, sometimes the whites often call the Indigenous people of North America, “Native American”, and correct those who say Indian but there is an organization called “American Indian Movement”, it is quite interesting. In my opinion, I would say “I am Lakota”, or “I am Cherokee”, the different tribes are distinctive. The fact that the white American wants to bunch all these people in one group really shows that they are ignorant of your culture, right?

No, people in the past were through something. Someone who happens to share their skin color wasn’t. I’m from Perú. Some years ago, a bunch of spanish came here and treated another bunch of peruvians like shit. Should I say that spanish people tread “us” like shit? No, they treated THEM like shit. I wasn’t there. The fatc that they were peruvians and share my skin color doesn’t make me part of them.
